| Dear members and
friends of Life on the Vine Christian Community, as well as visitors to
our web site,
There have been a lot of good reviews and overall great responses to The Great Giveaway. Rae Ann and I thank God for all he has done in regard to the offering of this book for the furtherance of Christ’s church. No doubt there will be questions and conversation surrounding this book. Amidst it all, we sincerely hope The Great Giveaway has started a conversation that brings us all together, both at Life on the Vine church and other churches around N. America, to ask the question “how can we be the church more faithful in these postmodern times.” One impression about the book I would like to avoid is the following: There have been some who think as a result of a cursory read of the book that I am totally against psychotherapy, mega churches, public schools, government programs, expository preaching, para church organizations, experiential worship, etc. Well, I’m not! I am calling for an engaging of all these things and reclaiming them for the mission of Christ’s church. So, with that said, I hope a new level of discussion concerning our faithfulness as followers of Christ takes root at Life on the Vine church as a result of The Great Giveaway. And if you’re a visitor to this site, and you have things to say or questions to ask concerning the book, if you are asking “what it means for us to be His church in these times,” I personally invite you to come to our morning gathering (10:15 a.m.) and find me and engage me in conversation. I look forward to it! The book has a webpage and I have a blog where you can get more information on the book and some of the ideas contained therein. We pray that God will use all of us, our church, your church (if you’re a visitor) and this book to further the mission of Christ and His church here in North America in these postmodern times. Blessings, David Fitch |
